INTRODUCTION : The Missing Pieces of Your Practice
At the start of a new year, many of us commit to "doing more yoga." We roll out the mat, we sweat, and we stretch. But did you know that physical postures (Asana) are only one-eighth of the yoga system?
As a Yoga Master, I often see students who are physically strong but mentally scattered. This is because they are practicing only the third limb. To find true peace and freedom, we must embrace the full path.
The 8 Limbs "Ashtanga Yoga " Explained (Simply)
The sage Patanjali defined Yoga not as exercise, but as an 8-part structure ("Ashta-Anga") for mastering the mind.
Yamas (Ethics): How you treat the world (Non-violence, Truth).
Niyamas (Discipline): How you treat yourself (Cleanliness, Contentment).
Asana (Posture): Mastering the body to sit in stillness.
Pranayama (Breath): Mastering the energy (Prana) to calm the nerves.
Pratyahara (Withdrawal): Unplugging from sensory overload (digital detox).
Dharana (Focus): Training the mind to hold one single thought.
Dhyana (Meditation): The flow state where effort dissolves.
Samadhi (Freedom): The ultimate goal—total clarity and bliss.
When you ignore the other 7 limbs, yoga becomes just gymnastics. When you integrate them, it becomes a path to freedom.
THE YOGVEDA DIFFERENCE : Structure Creates Freedom
At Yogveda, we do not teach "Ashtanga Yoga" as a rigid brand style. We teach these 8 Limbs as a universal map. Our method ensures you aren't just flexible in the hamstrings, but flexible in the mind.
CONCLUSION : Start Your Journey to Freedom
This year, don't just resolve to "move more." Resolve to evolve.
Join our upcoming Master Workshop to experience all 8 limbs in action.
