The Ego's Party vs. A Mindful New Year
Tonight, the champagne corks will pop. Social media will flood with "Year in Review" posts—lists of promotions, marathons run, and money made. This is the party of the Ego. Many seek depth but find only noise. If you desire a Mindful New Year in Bern, far from the hustle, we must look inward. The Ego loves the New Year because it is an opportunity to say: "Look at me. Look at what I did." But as a Yoga Master, I ask you to pause the noise.
The Fragility of "More"
We are conditioned to measure our lives by accumulation. More money. More fitness. More status. But if the events of the world—or the frailty of the human body—have taught us anything, it is that "More" is not guaranteed. The Ego measures Quantity. The Soul measures Quality. If you gained the world this year but lost your connection to your own breath, you did not win. You lost.
Celebrating Life (Prana)
To celebrate "Life" is to celebrate the miracle that you are simply here. That your heart beat 36 million times this year without you asking it to. That your lungs processed oxygen while you slept. That you survived the challenges, the griefs, and the stresses. Life is not what you achieve. Life is what flows through you.
Mindful New Year Bern: A Yogic Resolution for 2026
This year, do not make a resolution to "fix" yourself. The Ego thinks you are broken. The Soul knows you are whole. Instead of a "To-Do" list, make a "To-Be" list.
Less noise, more silence.
Less judgment, more observation.
Less Ego, more Life.
The First 72 Hours: The Sacred Pause
The world tells you to start "grinding" on January 1st. We say: Wait. Do not force a tired body into a hard resolution. That is violence. Use the first three days of the year for The Sacred Pause.
Drink warm water to hydrate the system.
Sit in silence for 10 minutes.
Sleep. Recover your energy before you spend it.
Happy New Year from Yogveda.
