WHAT IS YOGVEDA YOGA
The Holistic Yoga Method
From the start of the class, the Yogveda system focuses on working with the core muscles. If your core muscles are weak, your body cannot be strong. A weak body leads to a weak mind. In Yogveda we use “The Yoga Mat”, a patented yoga mat that helps with the alignment and with the quicker and better understanding of the yoga positions
Body, mind, breath and soul belong together. The body is the temple of the soul, and through the body, thanks to yoga practice, we recognize the soul. This is called self-realization or enlightenment. So yoga is about discovering the soul by creating the right body - with good nutrition, correct posture and a good lifestyle.
Shahid Khan has years of experience in yoga classes and working with people with poor posture. He has developed a method to correct asanas (yoga positions) and pranayama (breathing regulation) the problems that arise from our modern day life. This method is called Yogveda Yoga.
What is bad posture?
Bad posture primarily refers to a misaligned spine. Reasons for a misaligned spine are hereditary on the one hand or are due to the uneven load on the feet. The poor bone structure of the legs is another factor, as is the uneven opening of the hip joints, the incorrect curvature of the spine and the head that leans forward from the shoulders.
Our lifestyle today contributes a lot to our bad posture. We sit so much that the femoral head moves a little out of the acetabulum. As a result, the spine is no longer properly supported, which has serious consequences: body, breathing, thoughts and hormones are negatively affected.
The correct posture refers to the correct alignment of the spine. It remains in all sitting, standing and lying positions.
The consequences of poor posture are listed below.
Wrong alignment
The bone problems that result from poor posture are the result of incorrect alignment of the spine, unevenly loaded feet, X or O legs and closed joints. If you are in good posture, the cervical, thoracic and lumbar spines balance along an imaginary vertical line from head to toe. Poor posture disrupts the alignment of the spine by either overemphasizing one or more of the bends in the spine or creating a horizontal curve (scoliosis). Any poorly aligned spine disrupts the alignment of other main bones and muscles, which can lead to short-term pain or long-term structural damage.
Joint load
The joints are padded and protected by connective tissue during movement. A badly aligned spine causes weight and stress to be redistributed throughout the body. To compensate for the bad posture, joints are overloaded. This leads to temporary or persistent pain and weakening of the supporting connective tissue.
Growth problems
The skeletal system coordinates growth with the muscle fibers to ensure alignment and balance. Poor posture, for example, which puts additional strain on the spine, causes the intervertebral discs to wear out faster, which compresses the bones of the spine and leads to loss of body length. Poor posture, which squeezes the bones and joints, also hinders the growth of muscle fibers, which limits strength.
Arthrosis
Poor posture is one of the reasons for osteoarthritis. Osteoarthritis is the slowly progressive breakdown of articular cartilage, which protects the bones from rubbing against each other and thus causing pain. Poor posture means that joints have to carry too much weight, which wears down the cartilage.
Physical and chemical causes
There are a number of physical causes of poor posture. The most common is a muscular imbalance (muscles directly control the skeleton, especially the spine). In most cases, these imbalances are due to a neurological disorder in the connection between the brain and the muscle. These weaknesses affect not only the spinal muscles, but muscles throughout the body. This can seriously affect the posture and movement of the spine.
A muscular disorder caused by a chemical imbalance leads to reduced energy. People with poor posture quickly feel exhausted when standing, walking or doing simple physical activities. Hormonal imbalances can also play a role. A low testosterone level or an underactive thyroid is particularly important here.
Psychology
It has long been known that posture and gait reflect mental state and emotional state. A negative lifestyle leads to bad posture. In order to change the way of life positively, one has to change the attitude. A healthy spine is crucial for this.
The procedure in Yogveda Yoga
Yogveda Yoga is a classic yoga style that focuses on correcting postural problems and integrates this into the asana and pranayama practices.
The asana classes begin with Yogveda Kriya, a sophisticated series of asanas to open the body, muscles and joints. The whole body is warmed up before the actual hour begins.
The Pranayama class is divided into two. The first part is about correcting the spine, which improves breathing and posture. The second part consists of breathing exercises and concentration.
From the very first hour at Yogveda, you work in the asanas in such a way that you understand your posture and learn to change it effectively. Personal aids are used so that posture can be quickly improved.
Problems that are corrected by Yogveda Yoga
In Yogveda Yoga, health begins with the feet. To correct and work with the body, we first start with the feet, get to the legs, then work on correcting the hips, coming to the spine, shoulders, and finally centering the head and brain. This leads to the correct position, a calm, regular breath and a calm mind. This is Ashtanga Kriya from Yogveda - the activity or correction of the eight limbs of the body.
Correction includes: flat feet, hammer toes, hallux valgus, bow legs and x legs, alignment of the hips, alignment of the spine and brain.
A well-aligned spine is the key to good health. The brain and central nervous system should have as little pressure as possible to keep the body relaxed. Nerves that come from the spine connect the whole body like an information network. A misaligned spine means that everything is going wrong. It causes tension in the vertebrae and in the body. It disrupts the functioning of the organs and the hormones and leads to negative thoughts and unnecessary stress in life. By avoiding the usual age or fatigue slump and ensuring that the lower spine doesn't slowly lose its natural curvature, we can keep the body healthier and younger.
If we have the correct posture - the posture in which we do not fight gravity and the nervous system is relaxed - it is easier to get into a meditative state. Meditation is a natural state that is achieved when we have a balanced body, breath and mind. Meditation is deep silence that comes from within.
Yogveda is the science of silence.
