UNLOCK YOUR SHOULDERS

03.05.2025 - 09.00 - 14.00

Introduction to 'Unlock Your Shoulders' Yoga Workshop

Welcome to the 'Unlock Your Shoulders' workshop! This session is all about freeing your shoulders from stiffness, strengthening them, and learning how to care for this important part of your body. Using yoga asanas and pranayama (breathing exercises), we’ll help you create shoulders that are both strong and flexible.

Muscles of the Shoulders

The shoulders are complex and involve several key muscles that work together to support movement and stability:

  • Deltoids: Cover the top of your shoulders and help lift your arms in all directions.

  • Rotator cuff muscles: A group of four muscles (supraspinatus, infraspinatus, teres minor, and subscapularis) that stabilize the shoulder joint and allow rotation.

  • Trapezius: Extends across your upper back and neck, supporting posture and shoulder movement.

  • Rhomboids: Located between your shoulder blades, helping pull your shoulders back.

  • Serratus anterior: Along the sides of your ribs, aiding in shoulder stability and upward movement.

  • Pectoralis major and minor: Chest muscles that help move your shoulders forward and inward.

  • Latissimus dorsi: A large back muscle involved in shoulder extension and rotation.

These muscles allow your shoulders to move in almost every direction, making them one of the most mobile parts of your body.

What Happens if Your Shoulders Are Weak?

Weak shoulders can lead to several problems:

  • Poor posture: Shoulders may slump forward, causing neck, back, and upper body tension.

  • Reduced range of motion: Everyday tasks like reaching, lifting, or carrying may feel difficult or uncomfortable.

  • Increased risk of injuries: Weak muscles and tightness can strain the shoulder joint and surrounding areas.

  • Tension and pain: Weak or tight shoulders often contribute to chronic neck and upper back discomfort.

Positive Effects of Strong Shoulders

Strong and flexible shoulders can improve your daily life in many ways:

  • Better posture: Strong shoulders naturally align your body, reducing strain on other areas.

  • Increased mobility: Everyday tasks and movements become easier and more efficient.

  • Less tension: Open and strong shoulders help release tightness in the upper body, promoting relaxation.

  • Enhanced breathing: Relaxed shoulders create space for deeper, fuller breaths.

  • Boosted confidence: Good posture and freedom of movement can make you feel more self-assured.

What You’ll Learn in This Workshop
